The Børsesjø watercourse - total
| Feste Grenland AS has, together with NIVA (the Norwegian Intitute for Water Research) established an interdisciplinary project for the Børsesjø watercourse. Other involved parties are the city councils of Skien and Porsgrunn, regional authorities, a local farmers' association, the Børsesjø organization and NVE (the Norwegian Watercourse and Energy Directorate). The project is also has an international link via the INTERREG program W.I.S.E.R. (W= Water Framework Directive, I= Innovation, S= Sustainability, E= Economy, R= Risk Management).
The occasion is EU's water framework directive and the Norwegian regulations for water administration. A principal objective is total protection and sustainable use of Norway's water resources by 2021. This ambitious objective demands efforts from all official sectors. Everything that happens in a watercourse, either natural or human processes, influences the water resources. An important objective of this project is therefore to integrate water course administration in intermunicipal community planning so that it includes agriculture, city development, cultivated landscapes, natural environments, and risk management regarding floods and landslides in order to obtain a satisfactory social administration of a complex watercourse area. |
